Howard DuPont, 100, formerly of Lamont Dr., Meadville and a current resident of Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community, died there Saturday, March 22, 2003.
He was born March 17, 1903 in Troy Township, a son of the late Augustus and Carrie Proper DuPont. He married Annie Armburger June 8, 1927 and she preceded him in death April 1, 2000.
He was a 1921 graduate of Cochranton High School and a graduate of Meadville Commercial College. He worked as an inspector at Talon from 1933 to 1946 and as an independent accountant from 1946 to 1961. He also worked at Dad’s Products, Inc. for many years as an accountant and controller, retiring in 1964. He was an avid fisherman and gardener.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Homer DuPont; a sister, Mabel Northrup; a half-sister, Nellie DuPont; and 2 half-brothers, Harry and Dillworth DuPont.
A calling hour will be Tuesday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Richard Haugh, Pastor of St. Mark’s United Church of Christ officiating.
Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Randolph Township.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
