Howard E. Miller, 86, of 571 Chestnut St., Meadville, died Monday, April 8, 2002 at Hamot Medical Center, Erie.
He was born April 8, 1916 in Pittsburgh, a son of the late John and Elizabeth Bauer Miller.
He worked as a custodian for 10 years at the Crawford County Vocational Technical School, retiring in 1979. He previously worked for 10 years at Talon and was a self-employed farmer. He was an avid gardener, growing many different types of flowers and vegetables.
He was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 6 sisters, Edna Simmons, Clara Hogue, Marie Schultz, Laverna Maloney, Amelia Gross, and Arvella Miller and 6 brothers, John A., Albert E., Elmer L., Carl W., Ralph H., and Harry A. Miller.
Calling hours will be Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.
A funeral service will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. William L. Brown, Visitation Pastor of Stone United Methodist Church officiating.
Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
