Howard W. Hickman

Howard W. Hickman, 82, formerly of Countryside Trailer Court, Meadville and a resident of Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community since March 2005, died there, Monday, December 5, 2005.

He was born June 23, 1923 in St. Louis, MO, a son of the late Harry and Helen Mayer Hickman.  He married Anna Ellen Johnston LoBue in April 1974 and she preceded him in death January 20, 1997.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II.  He worked as a machinist at the American Brakeshoe as well as various other jobs.  He was a member of the Meadville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006, Saegertown American Legion, Meadville Elks Lodge 219, and the Meadville Club.

Survivors include two step-daughters, Carol Ann Cox and her husband Larry of Guys Mills and Mary Ellen Peterson and her husband Jim of Cochranton; and step-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.  In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a stepson, Richard D. Twombley; a brother, Harry Hickman, and a sister, Betty Carlson.

Calling hours are today (Wednesday) from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.

A funeral and committal service will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Ellen Rezek, Chaplain of Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community officiating followed by military honors provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006.

Entombment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
