Huber L. Smith

Huber L. Smith, 77, of Meadville, died Monday, November 14, 1983, at Spencer Hospital following a brief illness.

He was born at Bridgeville, DE, September 9, 1906, a son of Don and Susan Ladds Smith.  He married Emma Blanchard May 19, 1935.  She died December 13, 1978.

Smith retired in 1967 after 32 years of service at the former American Viscose Corp., now Avtex Fibers Inc., where he was a foreman.  He also taught school for several years earlier in his life.

A member of First Presbyterian Church, Smith also attended Allegheny and Edinboro State Colleges.  He also was a member of Crawford Masonic Lodge 234, and Scottish Rite Bodies of Oil City.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Donnalee Dennis of Conneaut Lake; a son, Dr. David I. Smith of Brockport, NY; two sisters, Miss Donna Isabelle Smith of Saegertown and Mrs. Werner (Virginia) Happe of Meadville; two brothers, Henry Thoreau Smith of Guys Mills and Harrington A. Smith of Meadville; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, William Ladds Smith.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Kingsley Cemetery, Townville.
