Hugh A. “Pete” Hart, 72, of 14952 Harmonsburg Rd., Meadville, died Friday, December 26, 2003 at Meadville Medical Center following an illness of several months.
He was born in Meadville February 6, 1931, a son of the late Harold T. and Lucy Briggs Hart. He married Donna Blakeslee August 18, 1951.
He was a 1949 graduate of Meadville Vocational School. He worked for 10 years as a union electrician and was a former member of the International Brotherhood of Electricians. He subsequently owned and operated Hart Homes, where he built and sold modular homes for 40 years, retiring in 1995. He was a member of the former Conneaut Kickers square dance club, enjoyed bowling in a mixed couples bowling league, and especially loved building and working with his hands.
He attended Harmonsburg United Methodist Church.
Survivors, in addition to his wife of 52 years, include 2 daughters, Linda Rifenberrick of Conneautville and Valerie Vogan and her husband Bill of Cochranton; a son David Hart and his wife Sarah of Pittsburgh; a sister, Clara Prenatt and her husband Donald of Meadville; a brother, Richard Hart and his wife Shirley of Meadville; 6 grandchildren, Monica, Marcy, and Adam Vogan, Eric and Matthew Rifenberrick, and Charles Hart; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Edward Hart and 2 sisters, Mary Lucille Coleman and Audrey Jean Dillinger.
Calling hours are today (Sunday) from 2 to 4 and 7:30 to 9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.
A funeral service will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Joseph Rial, United Methodist Minister officiating.
Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
