I. David Bowser, Sr.

April 19, 1914 — April 16, 2007

I. David Bowser, Sr., 92, a resident of Wesbury United Methodist Community, died there, Monday, April 16, 2007.

He was born in Reynoldsville, April 19, 1914 a son of Dr. David and Laura Wheeler Bowser.  He married Julia Johnston and she preceded him in death May 5, 1975.

He had worked for the Prudential and Metropolitan Insurance Companies and had his own Kemper Insurance Agency.  He taught science and math at the West Mead Elementary School and at the Meadville Junior High School retiring in 1976.

He was a graduate of Reynoldsville High School, attended Allegheny College and received his Bachelors of Science degree from Clarion State College.  He was a member of First Baptist Church of Meadville, the Reynoldsville Masonic Lodge, the Sons of the American Revolution and the Pennsylvania Association of Public School Retirees.  He was a veteran of World War II serving with the US Navy.

Survivors, include five children, Julia Albert and her husband Ray of Chesaning, MI, David Bowser, Jr. and his wife Marilyn of Meadville and Estero, FL, Matthew Bowser of Meadville, Mary Ann Hurst of St. Petersburg, FL and John Bowser and his wife Antonia of Meadville; ten grandchildren, five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Sara Crawford, Martha Alderton, Mary Lots and Alma Henry.

Private family graveside services will be held in Greendale Cemetery.

There will be no calling hours.

The family suggests memorials be made to Wesbury United Methodist Community, 31 N. Park Ave., of the Meadville Public Library, 848 N. Main Street, Meadville, PA 16335.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville.
