Ida Mae (Urey) Abbott

Ida M. Abbott, 82 of Conneaut Lake passed on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at her daughter Kim’s home in Bel Air, MD.

Mrs. Abbott was born on September 24, 1933 in Conneaut Lake, a daughter of Earl and Marie Urey.  Ida was preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Vern R. Abbott.

She worked at molded fiberglass for 30 years where she formed many life-long friendships.

Ida attended High Street Community Church where she served as an elder, a Sunday school teacher, and on the hospitality committee.

Her hobbies included traveling with her family every summer, bowling, gardening, and spending time with family and friends.  She was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler Fan and loved her dog “Troy” #43. She was also an active member of the Conneaut Lake Garden Club and worked on many community beautification projects.

She is survived by three children, Randy Abbott and his wife Jan of Plymouth, Minnesota, Rick Abbott and his wife Kathy of Kenton, Ohio, and Kim Slencak and husband Bob of Bel Air, Maryland.  Grandmother to seven grandchildren, Rachel Nyman, Nate, Josh, Luke and Jacob Abbott and Grayson and Madison Slencak and one great grandchild Noah all of whom she loved dearly.

She is survived by a brother Jack Urey of Conneaut Lake. She was very close to him and they always enjoyed spending time together. She is also survived by a sister Virginia Urey-Dubrawsky of Conneaut Lake.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother Albert Urey, and two sisters, Betty Fuller and Doris Morrell.

She always cherished her relationship and close bond with her forever friend, Lil Gaw.

Visitation will be Friday, April 29th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Waid-Coleman Funeral Home, 12422 Conneaut Lake Road, Conneaut Lake.

The funeral will be Saturday, April 30th at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Bill Rogers of High Street Community Church officiating.

Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Harmonsburg.
