Ida E. Craven

Ida E. Craven, 86, of Meadville, died Saturday, April 29, 1989, at Wesbury United Methodist Community following a six-week illness.

She was born in North Versailles Township, Allegheny County, February 19, 1903, a daughter of Alex and Laura Everett McLaren.  She married Hoyt E. Gillette on February 23, 1922.  He preceded her in death on March 6, 1925.  She subsequently married Niles R. Craven on June 30, 1928.  He preceded her in death on July 19, 1969.

She was a homemaker.  She was a member of First Baptist Church of Meadville and the church's Plus Altra Sunday School Class and Mary Mission Circle.

Survivors include a daughter, Dorothy Showers; a son, William R. Craven, both of Jamestown, NY; two sisters, Evelyn Wood and Alma Heckman, both of Meadville; three brothers, Gilbert McLaren and Clinton McLaren, both of Meadville and Eugene McLaren of Townville; ten grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Hoyt E. Gillette and three sisters, Ethel McLaren, Gladys Hirt and Mabel Lee.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Kingsley Cemetery.
