Ila P. Smith, 83, of Guys Mills, died unexpectedly Sunday, April 22, 1990 at Meadville Medical Center.
She was born in Mt. Hope, March 11, 1907, a daughter of Rex L. and Mary Schenberg Poly. She married George H. Smith, February 22, 1927. He preceded her in death in February of 1966.
She had been employed by the Randolph-East Mead School cafeteria.
She was a member of the St. Hippolyte Roman Catholic Church, the Kiser-East Mead Grange, and the Mt. Hope W.S.C.S.
Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Francis (Phyllis) Tolan of Elk Grove Village, IL, Mrs. Ray (Dorothy) Brenoel of Cochranton, Mrs. Jim (Jeannine) Kebort of Meadville, Mrs. Bill (Gladys) McFadden of Guys Mills, Mrs. John (Patricia) Massa of Chambersburg; two sons, George H. Smith, Jr. of Midland, TX and Merle C. Smith of McKeesport; two sisters, Luella Holcomb of Little Cooley and Mrs. Stanley (Marian) Mathews of Cambridge Springs; three brothers, Ernest Poly of Cocoa Beach, FL, William Poly of Guys Mills and Joseph Poly of Wesbury United Methodist Community; twenty-nine grandchildren and thirty-six great-grandchildren.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in St. Hippolyte Cemetery.
