Imogene (Jean) L. Bergholtz, 86, of 334 Ross Drive, Saegertown, was called home by her Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, June 19, 2016.

She was born in Driftwood, PA on February 5, 1930, the oldest child of James P. Wilson and Mary Kathryn Bauer Wilson Grande.  She was raised in Emporium, PA.

On September 11, 1946, she married Devon (Deacon) N. Bergholtz in Elkton, MD.  She and her husband moved to the Meadville area in 1947.  They were very devoted to each other, never going to bed mad at the other and always saying their Prayers and the Lord’s Prayer together.  They were happily married for 65 years.  Devon preceded her in death January 28, 2012.

She is survived by a son, Russell J. Bergholtz of Saegertown; a daughter, Nancy J. Dearborn of Erie; three granddaughters, Kristi L. Bergholtz of Saegertown, Shannon Shutika of Hanover, PA, and Jennifer Smithey of Corry, PA; three great-granddaughters, Nyah Shutika, Sara Gregory, and Jayden Gregory; seven great-grandsons, James Dearborn, Cole Shutika, Tyler Smithey, Neil Shutika, Calvin Smithey, Corbin Smithey, and Cade Shutika; a sister-in-law, Joyce Husband of Hatboro, PA; two brothers-in-law, Gary Bergholtz of Destin, FL and Norbert Bergholtz of Blue Bell, PA; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents and husband Devon, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Devon N. Bergholtz, Jr.; a brother, Robert L. Wilson; and a sister-in-law, Naoma Bergholtz McDowell.

Jean had worked at the Italian Civic Club, Eckerd’s Drug Store, and retired from the Super Duper Grocery Store at the Park Avenue Plaza in 1976, having served as their union steward.

She was a member of Twelve Apostles Lutheran Church, Saegertown, having served on church council.  Jean was a former member of the Hayfield Central Hose Co. VFD ladies auxiliary and a former member of the Crawford County Care Center auxiliary, having served as it’s president for several years.  She enjoyed traveling with her husband, her family, church, crafts, and most of all her beloved Labrador retriever, Shadow.
