Ina G. Nash, 92, formerly of Franklin and a current resident of Wesbury United Methodist Community since October 1977, died there Saturday, December 6, 1997 following a period of declining health.
She was born July 27, 1905 in Franklin, a daughter of the late Clarence C. and Minnie Osborne Gilmore. She married Richard Nash, July 9, 1960. He preceded her in death December 23, 1980.
Mrs. Nash was a 1923 graduate of Franklin High School. She was a 1925 graduate of Clarion State Normal School and a 1941 graduate of Clarion State Teachers College with a BA in education. She also attended Edinboro University. She worked as a teacher for two years in the Clintonville School District and then for 33 years in the Franklin School District, retiring in 1960. She was a past president of the Franklin Teachers Assn. and a member of the PA State Teachers Assn. She was also a life member of the National Teachers Assn. In 1931, she was a founding and organizing member of the Girl Scouts Program in Franklin. She was named Franklin Chamber of Commerce "Woman of the Year" in 1971. She was a United Way of Franklin volunteer and a member of the Franklin Civic League.
She was a member of Franklin First United Methodist Church, a former church trustee, past president of the United Methodist Women and past chairperson of the church education committee.
Survivors include two sisters, Icel Dotterer of Meadville and Geraldine Woods of Grove City; one brother, Calvin Gilmore of Rocky Grove and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Maude Dillon and Vera Gilmore and six brothers, Kenneth, Robert, Herbert, Merle, Clyde and Andrew Gilmore.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Franklin Cemetery.
