Inez G. Thompson

November 16, 1894 — August 2, 1976

Mrs. Inez G. Thompson, 81, of Meadville, died Monday, August 2, 1976, at Mead Nursing Home where she had been a patient for two weeks.  She had been ill for two months.

Born in Newtown, Forest County, November 16, 1894, she was a daughter of Frank and Alice Carson Nelson.  She married Carl W. Thompson, August 19, 1913.  He died in 1955.

She was a housemother for Delta Tau Delta fraternity from 1954 to 1962.  A member of Stone United Methodist Church, she also was a member of the church's Beacon Light Sunday School Class.  She also was a member of the Ladies' Advisory Committee of City Hospital, Daughters of Union Veterans and served for many years as a volunteer with the Red Cross Blood Bank.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Lawrence (Viola) Echnoz of Meadville and Mrs. Michel (Marjorie) Cecas of Quebec City, Que., Canada; a son, James W. Thompson of Pittsford, NY; a half-sister, Mrs. Allen (Frances) Whitton of Marienville; a stepsister, Mrs. Fred (Maude) Kurtz of Oil City; a half-brother, C. R. Bortzer of Grand Valley; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter and a brother.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
