Ira Chambers

Ira Chambers, 87, a resident of the Crawford County Home, Saegertown, formerly of Meadville, died Saturday, July 1, 1989, at Meadville Medical Center after a period of failing health.

Mr. Chambers was born in Deerfield Township, Warren County, February 18, 1902, a son of John and Margaret Gibson Chambers.  He married Ruth Styer November 24, 1949.  She preceded him in death November 11, 1983.

He had been employed at the former American Viscose Corp. for 40 years.  He also had been a farmer in East Mead Township.  He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ.

Surviving are several nieces and nephews including, Mrs. Milo (Margaret) Gevin of Cochranton and Herbert Rulander of Warren.  He was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
