Ira Samuel Smith, 77, of Meadville, East Mead Township, a 40-year employee of FMC, died at Meadville Medical Center Saturday, March 9, 1991, after a brief illness.
He was born in East Mead Township, October 28, 1913, a son of Hiram and Mollie Reedy Smith. He married Hazel Maillard January 20, 1940. She survives.
He was retired as a foreman at FMC in 1972. He was a member of the Randolph Grange.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include five daughters, Mrs. Dom (Irene) Furno of Meadville, Mrs. Robert (Donna) Carroll of Sharpsville, IN, Mrs. John (Pearl) Bierman of Saegertown, Mrs. Paul (Ruth) Gandalot of Cardington, OH and Ms. Judy Alexander of Guys Mills; a son, Charles Smith of Blooming Valley; three sisters, Margaret Southall of Blooming Valley, Bessie Trout of Meadville and Mrs. James (Eleanor) Hamilton of Albuquerque, NM; one brother, Stanley Smith of Meadville and seventeen grandchildren.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
