Irene E. Manville Whitecotton, 89, a resident of the Crawford County Care Center and formerly of Holland Towers, Meadville and Transfer, PA, died Thursday, March 13, 2008 at Sharon Regional Hospital.
She was born in Meadville May 25, 1918, a daughter of the late Clyde and Hattie Smith Smock. She had been married to Fred L. Manville.
A devoted homemaker and mother, she was of the Protestant faith.
Survivors include a daughter, Connie Lauffer Shoop and her husband Mike of Fairview; 2 sons, Fred A. Manville and his wife Cindy of Frenchtown and Ronald H. Manville and his wife Barb of Hermitage; a step-brother, Allen Slaker of Erie; 10 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Osborne and a half-sister, Ruth Chase.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville where a funeral and committal service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Norman Aabye, Pastor of C.A.R.E. Ministries of Saegertown officiating.
Interment will be in Denny Cemetery, Vernon Township, Crawford County.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 464 Pine St., Meadville, PA 16335.
