Mrs. Irene W. Sleptzoff, 62, of Saegertown, wife of Alexander Sleptzoff, died Sunday, June 7, 1987, at Meadville Medical Center following a lengthy illness.
She was born in Berlin, Germany, March 25, 1925, a daughter of Herbert and Dr. Liselotte Meier List. She married Alexander Sleptzoff February 23, 1949. He survives.
Mrs. Sleptzoff had worked as a substitute teacher in the area. She had also worked in Dr. Dalrymple's office for seven years. She had also worked as supervisor at Gallot Knitting Mill in Uniontown.
She attended high school in Berlin. She graduated from Edinboro University with a bachelor of science degree with honors. She was past president of the Republican council, past president of World Affairs, past president of the Third District PTA and was a member of Alpha Chi honor society. She was a Republican committeewoman in Venango Township and was active in many social and civic activities.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include three sons, Bill Sleptzoff of Saegertown, Nicolas Sleptzoff of Lake City and Alexander Sleptzoff of Laurel, MD; her mother, of Fehraltorf, Switzerland; two sisters, Dr. Sabine Wieland of Switerland and a twin sister, Sybille Halward of Birmingham, England and two grandchildren.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
