Irma “Mae” Hart, 95 of Sandy Lake, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2019 at Orchard Manor in Grove City with her family by her side. Mae was born on July 28, 1923 in Jackson Center to the late Harry and Bertha Wareham Hart. The family later moved to Sandy Lake where she grew up. She was a graduate of Sandy Lake High School and was the Valedictorian of her class. Mae had several jobs in Cochranton and Meadville before she was called to California to assist her sister with her children. In California she worked as a line supervisor for Lenkurt, then GTE, and eventually Verizon telephone companies. Mae enjoyed her job and the friends she made while living in California. After retiring she moved back to Sandy Lake area and resided there through her final days. Mae loved her family dearly and spending time with them. While in California she became very close to her nieces and one nephew and upon returning to Sandy Lake, she was very close with her nieces and nephews here. They enjoyed the time they spent with her and the memories she gave them, and they thank her for that. She is survived by her nephews, Richard (Dottie) Bence of Kane, Rodney Bence of Stoneboro, Roger (Kelly) Bence of Murphysboro, TN, Larry (Faye) Curry of Haines, OR, David (Cathy) Hart of Sandy Lake, Dale Hart of Oakland, CA, and Joe Hart of Hendersonville. Nieces Cathy (Lee) Hartwick of Harrisburg, Janet Hart of Sandy Lake, Barbara (Richard) Cummings of Fairfax, VA, Donna (Robert) Slayton of AZ, Audrey (Dan) Fahrni of Carson, WA, and Betty Jo (Bill) Heffner of Huntingdon, PA, as well as numerous great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mae was preceded in death by her brothers Earl, Joe, and Allan Hart, sisters Ethel Bence and Dorothy Curry, niece Cindy Hull and nephew Jim Hart. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Black Funeral Homes, Stoneboro & Sandy Lake Funeral Services will be private with Reverend Elizabeth Creekpaum, Pastor of Sandy Lake Presbyterian Church, officiating.
