J. Donald Lundell

J. Donald Lundell, 93, formerly of Conneaut Lake, passed away in Akron, OH on Wednesday, March 18, 2020.

He was born November 4, 1926 in Jamestown, NY, the younger son of Leonard and Elsie Lundell.  He married Caroline Crabb on August 23, 1952 who preceded him in death following 65 years of marriage.

Following graduation from Meadville High School in 1944, Don attended Virginia Military Institute for one year before joining the US Army. Don finished his study after the war and graduated from Allegheny College in 1950 with a BA in Business.

Don started his career with Ohio Rubber in Conneautville and Westinghouse Electric in Meadville, before joining The Pittsburgh & Conneaut Dock Company in Conneaut, Ohio where he worked 25 years before retiring in 1983.  He started as a Cost Analyst but retired as the Supervisor of Personnel of the dock company.

A very active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Don served on church council for many years.  He was an active member of the Meadville Archery Club and the Crawford County & Conneaut Lake Historical Societies.

Don was very interested in genealogy, history, stamp collecting and was an avid sports fanatic and loved watching anything to do with Purdue!

Survivors include three children, Dennis (Denise) of Akron, OH, Susan (Jack) of Meadville, and Robert (Paula) of Copley, OH; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; one brother, Raymond Lundell of Nashville, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Wendy; and one grandson, Nicholas.

The funeral will be a private family service on Saturday, March 21st.  A celebratory gathering will be held in the near future at a time and date to be determined.

Private interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
