Jack Raymond Urey

Jack Raymond Urey, 80, of Wexford and formerly of Conneaut Lake, passed away Saturday, December 2, 2017 at UPMC Passavant.

He was born May 25, 1937 in Meadville, a son of Earl and Marie Lynce Urey.  He married Sherry D. Monnie July 19, 1969 and she preceded him in death November 12, 2012.

Jack was a 1955 graduate of Linesville High School.  He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving from 1960 to 1962 stationed in Germany for one year.  He was employed for 39 years at the Greenville Steel Car Company and subsequently for Trinity Industries.

Jack was a member of Conneaut Lake Park VFD Station 5, Pymatuning Sportsman’s Club, and the Linesville VFW Post 7842.  He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and gardener.

Survivors include a son, Jack R. Urey, Jr. and his wife Becca of Wexford; a brother-in-law, Gary Monnie and his wife Nancy of Conneaut Lake; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Albert Urey and four sisters, Doris Morrell, Betty Fuller, Virginia Dubrowsky, and Ida Abbott.

Calling hours will be Tuesday, December 5th from 5 to 7 p.m. at WAID-COLEMAN FUNERAL HOME, 12422 CONNEAUT LAKE RD., CONNEAUT LAKE where the funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with military honors provided by VFW Post 2006, Meadville.

Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Harmonsburg.
