Jacob E. Hanks, 81, of Conneaut Lake, died Wednesday, May 26, 1999 at Meadville Medical Center following a lengthy illness.
He was born February 13, 1918 in Morristown, TN a son of Jacob and Tinnie Hanks. He married Dorothy Fixel, April 16, 1950. She survives.
He was self-employed with J. E. Hanks and Assoc. until his retirement in 1980. He was a graduate of Morristown public schools and he attended Chillicothe Business College, Chillicothe, TN. He was a member of High Street Community Church in Conneaut Lake and a former church elder. He was a veteran of World War II with the US Navy as a Chief Petty Officer. He also was an avid golfer and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors in addition to his wife, include two sons, Robert W. Hanks of Pittsburgh and George D. Hanks (Terrie) of Cranberry Township; two sisters, Margaret Berts and Mary Francis Moore both of Moisertown, TN; a brother, William Hanks of Morristown, TN; three grandchildren, Geoffrey, Matthew and Michael Hanks and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Coffey.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
