Jacqueline H. "Jackie" (Cowdry) Houserman

Jacqueline H. “Jackie” Houserman, 95, of Conneaut Lake died Tuesday, November 30, 2021 peacefully in her home, where she lived for over 70 years.

She was born at home in Conneaut Lake Park November 12, 1926 a daughter of Jack and Nora Fisher Cowdry.  She married G. Blaine Houserman in 1948 and he preceded her in death June 10, 1991.

She was a graduate of Farrell High School.  She was always very active and first owned Houserman’s Variety Store from 1949-1962, then The Jacqueline Shoppe from 1963-1980, she was then the co-owner of Executive Catering from 1982-1988 and was a proud employee of Stitch Art Custom Embroidery from 2002-2019.

She was an avid golfer and enjoyed her flower garden, cooking and traveling.  In her later years, she enjoyed visiting her long eared friends Hee, Haw and Stanley.  She enjoyed spending time with her family immensely and she always looked forward to her weekly sequence card game with her friends.  Jackie prided herself on always being stylish and a sharp dresser and she would want everyone who knew her to “Hang Loose.”

She is survived by three children, Jill Houserman (Steve) of Katy, TX, Blaine Houserman of Albuquerque, NM and Lisa Houserman (Joel Meader) of Conneaut Lake; three grandsons, Alex Bremer of Katy, TX, Joshua Houserman of Albuquerque, NM and Spencer Blaine Boyd (Katie M. DeWalt) of Conneaut Lake and nieces and nephews.  Jackie also remained close with Loen “Dutch” Campbell’s daughters, Kay Stevens, Jane Headley and Cathy Clayton.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, James Cowdry and two long-time companions, Charles “Chuck” Waldschmidt, Jr. and Loen “Dutch” Campbell, Jr.

A Celebration of Jackie’s Life will be held Saturday, December 4, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Conneaut Lake Presbyterian Church, 145 S. Fifth Street, Conneaut Lake with Rev. Sam Heagy, Pastor, officiating.

Private family interment will be in Southside Cemetery, Shermansville.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Conneaut Lake Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 150, Conneaut Lake, PA 16316 or a charity of the donor’s choice.
