James Barry Cooper, 84, of Conneaut Lake, passed away Friday, September 2, 2016.
He was born August 9, 1932 in Sewickley, a son of Gleason E. and Gail H. Droz Cooper. He married Ruth Arne May 14, 1960 and she survives.
Jim was a 1950 graduate of West Allegheny High School and attended the University of Pittsburgh. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from 1953 to 1955.
Jim worked as an account executive for 35 years for Bell Telephone Company and subsequently for AT&T. He then worked for Electronic Data Systems in Flint, MI for 6 years.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Meadville where he had served as an Elder. A 32nd degree Mason, Jim was a member of Masonic Lodge 669, Oakdale and the Syria Shrine, Pittsburgh.
Survivors, in addition to his loving wife Ruth of 56 years, include three children, Timothy John Cooper and his wife Susan of Mercer, Jill Barrie Mysza and her husband Dean of Doylestown, and Todd Hunter Cooper and his wife Kristi of Southlake, TX; seven grandchildren, Ryan, Jordan, and Courtney Cooper, Zachary and Taylor Mysza, and Nathan and Bailey Cooper; a sister, Carol Gamble of Cranberry Township; three brothers, Joseph E. Cooper and his wife Kathy of Oakdale, Douglas B. Cooper and his wife Mary Lou of McDonald, and Jeffrey D. Cooper and his wife Kathy of Conneaut Lake; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Morgan Mysza and a sister, Mertie Little.
Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at WAID-COLEMAN FUNERAL HOME, 12422 CONNEAUT LAKE RD., CONNEAUT LAKE and Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 890 Liberty St., Meadville.
The funeral service will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Dr. Brian Jensen, Pastor, officiating.
Interment will be in Sewickley Cemetery.
