James Burton Bogardus, 76, a well known resident of Randolph Township, died very suddenly Tuesday, November 16, 1937 at his home in the Black Ash community.
In earlier life he was a pioneer oil contractor and had operated in oil fields in Indiana, Oklahoma, Alabama, Louisiana and in later years, Pennsylvania and his own home community.
On December 25, 1883, he married Ida L. Boals of Dempseytown, who died on February 1, 1932. Mr. Bogardus was a member of the Black Ash M. E. Church.
Survivors are two sons, Frank Elroy of Olean, NY and Clyde Laverne at home; a brother, P. Laverne of Black Ash; a sister, Mrs. J. E. French of Tulsa, OK; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Black Ash Cemetery.
