James Devlin Turnbull, 34, of Pittsburgh and formerly of Meadville died Friday, January 2, 2015.
He was born in Greenville April 7, 1980 a son of James W. and Carolyn Yoest Turnbull. He was a 1998 graduate of Meadville Area Senior High School and attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He worked as a server, bartender and cook at several Meadville area restaurants including Whispering Pines Golf Course, Chipper’s Pub, Valenza’s, The Safari Bar, Peppercorn and Vine and Ran’s and in Pittsburgh at Mallorca, Grand Concourse Station Square and Longhorn Steakhouse. He had also worked at one time as a warehouse manager at Hagan Business Machines of Meadville.
He was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler and Penguin fan and had enjoyed playing football, hockey and soccer in high school. He also enjoyed and was an excellent cook. He was a member of Stone United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, James W. and Carolyn Yoest Turnbull of Meadville, he is survived by his uncle and aunt, Richard and Joyce Minnis of Conneaut Lake; his uncle, Terry B. Turnbull of Buffalo, NY; five cousins, Richard Minnis, Jr. and his wife Michelle of Woodlands, TX, Aubrey DiRienzo and her husband Dominick of Meadville, Deborah Abelson and her husband Daniel of Buffalo, NY, Karen Seale of Atlanta, GA and Cynthia Turnbull of Melbourne, FL; good friend, Justin Pye of Pittsburgh and his two beloved dogs, Gunner and Maxine.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Gerald and Margaret Ruth Yoest; his paternal grandparents, Boyd and Norma Fern Turnbull and an aunt, Cynthia Yoest.
The family will greet friends Saturday, January 10th from 10-11 a.m. at Stone United Methodist Church, 956 S. Main Street, Meadville. The Celebration of Life service will follow at 11 a.m. at the church with Rev. Sarah Roncolato, Pastor, officiating.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Crawford County Humane Society, 11012 Kennedy Hill Road, Meadville, PA 16335 or Stone United Methodist Church, 956 S. Main Street, Meadville, PA 16335.
