James E. Hubbard

James E. Hubbard, 78 of Conneaut Lake, died Saturday, March 24, 2012 at the Meadville Medical Center.

He was born May 5, 1933 in Meadville a son of James Harold and Emma Grace Hunt Hubbard.  His mother later married Willard Armour and he was raised by his mother and step-father.  He married Mary Lou Unger January 28, 1956 and she survives.

He worked for Molded Fiberglass Co. for 43 years retiring May 30, 1998.  He was a 1951 graduate of Conneaut Lake High School.  He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the US Army from 1953-1956.  He was Past Master and Secretary of Pine Lodge #498, Linesville.  He was a member of Scottish Rite Valley, Erie, the Zem Zem Shrine, Erie and was one of the original members of the Crawford County Motor Patrol.  He was also a member of the Atlantic Congregational Church.  In the early 1960’s he served as the Conneaut Lake Police Chief.  He also served on the Crawford County Planning Commission and the Crawford Area Transportation Authority Board of Directors.  He and his wife Mary Lou also enjoyed traveling.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, Mary Lou of 56 years, include: a sister, Betty Lou Mocarski of Falls Church, VA; three brothers, Michael Thomas Hubbard and his wife Jane of Yorba Linda, CA, Richard Charles Hubbard and his wife Janice of National City, CA and Dennis Patrick Hubbard of Bonita, CA; an aunt, Jeannette Hunt of Meadville; cousins, Elaine Hoke and her husband Pete of Meadville and their children Brian Meyers, Shawn Hoke, Jason Hoke, Andrew Hoke and Darcy Hoke; several nieces and nephews including Mary Beth House of Vienna, VA and William Mocarski of Falls Church, VA with whom he was especially close and his very special friends, Fred and Joanne Cunningham of Conneaut Lake and Lenore and Russ Myers of Cochranton.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father, step-father and a sister, Shirley Buza.

Calling hours will be Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at the Waid-Coleman Funeral Home, Inc., 12422 Conneaut Lake Road, Conneaut Lake with a Masonic Service at 8 p.m.

The funeral service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. David McIlvried, officiating.

Interment with military honors provided by Huidekoper VFW Post 2006 will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Conneaut Lake.
