James F. Hunter, 72, of Meadville, died Thursday, November 16, 1995, at Meadville Medical Center, Transitional Care Unit after a period of declining health.
He was born in Meadville, February 24, 1923, a son of the late Jesse and Geraldine Drake Hunter. He married the former Anna May Lent, October 19, 1946, she survives.
He retired in 1978 as a fire safety inspector at Avtex where he had been employed for 19 years. Previously, he had worked at Westinghouse in Meadville from 1946-1959.
He was a graduate of Meadville High School Class of January 1941. He was a Veteran of World War II with the US Army in Europe. He had been a volunteer at the Meadville Public Library for the Tel-Med Program. He was of the Methodist Faith.
Survivors in addition to his wife include a daughter, Deborah Sweeny of Saegertown; three sons, James G., Thomas E. and Jeffrey E. Hunter; a sister, Marian Shady, all of Meadville; ten grandchildren and several cousins.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
