James K. Conaway

James K. Conaway, 54, of Guys Mills, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family and friends, Tuesday, May 21, 2013 following an extended battle with multiple systems atrophy.

He was born in Oil City May 1, 1959 a son of Raymond J. and Marian E. Nuhfer Conaway.  He married Laura S. Burchard June 26, 1982 and she survives.

He was the owner and operator of Conaway Building and Remodeling for over 20 years.  He was a 1977 graduate of Maplewood High School and attended Edinboro University.  He was a member of the United Evangelical Free Church of Guys Mills and was an active outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and trapping.  He loved his work, the outdoors, riding motorcycles and atvs and especially his family.

Survivors, in addition to his wife Laura of 30 years, include: two daughters, Rachael Pavlik and her husband Lucas of Chesapeake, VA and Stephanie Conaway of Guys Mills; a son, Kyle Conaway of Guys Mills; a brother, John Conaway and his wife Colleen of Worthington, PA; his father and mother-in-law, Clair and Marjorie Burchard of Guys Mills; four sisters-in-law, Linda Hanson and her husband Robert of Edinboro, Barbara Hill of Franklin, Mona Buschak and her husband James of Edinboro and Patricia Oakes and her husband Todd of Guys Mills; a grandchild that is expected in June; several nieces, nephews, and cousins and a caregiver and special friend, Tracy Dorado of Meadville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Conaway.

Calling hours will be Friday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville.

The funeral service will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Michael Fraser, Pastor of Lyona Bible Church, officiating.

Interment will be in Troy Center Cemetery.

The family suggests memorials be made to the United Evangelical Free Church of Guys Mills, P.O. Box 26, Guys Mills, PA 16327.
