James L. Miller

James L. Miller, 92, of Meadville, passed away Friday, January 14, 2022.

He was born November 1, 1929 in Akron, Ohio, a son of Leonard M. and Gertrude Bradley Miller.  He married Florence Crafferty February 1, 1962 and she preceded him in death December 2, 2015.

Jim was a 1948 graduate of Meadville High School.  He was a Veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Air Force from 1950 to 1954 in England and North Africa.

Jim worked at the American Viscose, Wolf’s Hardware, and retired from the custodial department at Crawford Central School District.

He was a member of the Epiphany of The Lord Parish.  Jim was a former member of the Kiwanis Club of Meadville.  He enjoyed drawing, painting, hunting, fishing, collecting coins, and civil war history.

Survivors include four grandchildren, Heather Lloyd of Meadville, Erin Byers of Alabama, James (J.T.) Byers, and Justin Byers, both of Guys Mills; three great-grandchildren, Devin, Heaven, and Shane, a son-in-law, Daniel Byers of Guys Mills; and several half-sisters, half-brothers, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two daughters, Susan MacBlain and Mary Byers; a grandson, Tyler McNeilly, a brother, Richard E. Miller; and a sister, Geraldine Smith.

Calling hours will be Thursday, January 20th from 4-7 p.m. at the ROBERT W. WAID FUNERAL HOME, 581 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE with a Scripture Prayer service at 6:45 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, January 21st at 10:00 a.m. at St. Brigid Church, 383 Arch St., Meadville with Fr. Joseph Petrone as Celebrant.

Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by VFW Post 2006.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
