James Lee “Jim” Griffin, Sr, 84 of Jackson Center, passed away on April 21, 2021 at UPMC Mercy. Jim was born in Millbrook on November 14, 1936 to the late James E. and Mary E. (Lane) Griffin. He was a 1954 graduate of Stoneboro High School and went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree from Youngstown State. He worked for many years in the steel industry as the Vice President of Quality Assurance at Wheatland Tube. Jim was an outdoorsman and enjoyed camping as well as hunting and fishing. Jim married his beloved wife, Shirley Ann Wharton on March 30, 1956, she survives at home. In addition to his wife Jim is survived by his sons, Richard Griffin of Jackson Center and Robert Griffin and wife Nancy of Canonsburg, grandchildren Michelle, Christine, James Michael, Samantha, Johnathan, Dakota, Lissa, Calvin, and Spencer, 15 great-grandchildren, brother John Griffin and wife Marilyn, and sister Elizabeth Baker. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his son, James Griffin Jr, brother Eugene Griffin, and great-grandson Daniel Griffin. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Rose and Black Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. 99 Franklin Street, Stoneboro, where family and friends are welcome from 1 pm – 3 pm on Saturday, April 24.
