James Lloyd McFadden, 86, of Blooming Valley died Thursday, October 24, 2008 at the Meadville Medical Center.
He was born in Guys Mills, December 5, 1921 a son of Wilbur Lloyd and Ethelyn Bessie McCloughry McFadden. He married Maxine Adell Burton November 26, 1943 and she survives.
He worked in the mixing and storage department of Avtex, Inc. for over 38 years retiring in 1979. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the US Army. He was wounded in action in Saint Lo, France and Auchen, Germany. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, a member of the Huidekoper VFW Post #2006 and the American Legion. He loved to hunt, fix things and was an avid golfer. He also enjoyed farming.
Survivors, in addition to his wife Maxine of 64 years, include: a daughter, Suann Larie Cronin and her husband Edward of Saegertown and a son, Gary McFadden and his wife Genne of Longview, TX; four grandchildren, Shawn McFadden and his wife Kristy, Gerad McFadden, Shae Min Heath and her husband John and Genna McFadden; six great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Natalie, Terrence, Ricky, Victoria and Gabrielle; and a nephew, Terry Grove and his wife Karen of Butler.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Elma Grove and a niece, Joyce Birch.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 2-5 p.m. and Monday from 10-11 a.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville.
The funeral and committal service will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Beverly Sheets, Pastor of Blooming Valley United Methodist Church, officiating.
Burial with military honors provided by Huidekoper VFW Post #2006 will be in Greendale Cemetery.
