James M. Kindervater

January 10, 1912 — October 18, 2002

James M. Kindervater, 90, of Meadville, died Friday, October 18, 2002 at Rolling Fields, Conneautville.

He was born in Beccaria January 10, 1912, a son of the late George and Mary Ann Lawlor Kindervater.  He married Gertrude J. Kiser May 19, 1934.

He retired in 1975 as an Engineer with the Erie Railroad following 34 years of service.  He also drove school bus for Penncrest School District for several years.  He served in the Army National Guard from 1933 to 1934.  He was a former member of the Locomotive Engineers Union and a member of the National Rifle Association.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodcutting, and planting strawberries.

He was a member of Meadville Alliance Church.

Survivors, in addition to his wife of 68 years, include two sons, James L. Kindervater and his wife Darla of Meadville and Kenneth A. Kindervater and his wife Thelma of Wheatland, WY; 6 grandchildren, Mary Ann Moore, Kenneth Mark Kindervater, Jill Kindervater, Beverly Taylor, David Kindervater, and Carol Lang; 9 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by 5 brothers, Carl, Roy, Gardner, Charles, and Arthur Kindervater and 2 sisters, Hilda Kindervater and Anna Jacklett.

Calling hours will be Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.

A funeral service will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Meadville Alliance Church, 66 N. Main St., Meadville with Rev. Jeff Conley officiating.

Burial will be in Kiser Hill Cemetery.
