James N. Hocke, 61, of Meadville, died at St. Luke's Hospital, Cleveland, Friday, June 29, 1973, after a short illness. He had been hospitalized ten days.
He was born in Oil City, April 11, 1912. Mr. Hocke first married Myrtle Louise Collom who died in 1962. On June 29, 1963, he married Luciel Riddle. Mr. Hocke was employed as an engineer by Talon Division of Textron for 40 years. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Talon Management Clun, National Management Assn., Society of Metalurgical Engineers and American Society of Lubricating Engineers; was past master of Crawford Masonic Lodge and was a member of the following Masonic orders: Solomon Royal Arch Chapter, Timothy Alden Council, Northwest Commandary, and French Creek Valley Lodge of Perfection at Oil City. He was a 14th degree Mason.
Survivors include his widow; a daughter, Mrs. Jean Louise Waters of Erie; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Robert (Shirley) Hope of Meadville; a stepson, Donald Riddle of Cardiff, CA; three half-sisters, Mrs. Edgar (Margaret) Dillen of Saegertown, Mrs. Moyne (Lucille) Donaldson of Franklin and Mrs. Robert (Isabell) Eckenbaum of Paso Robles, CA; two half-brothers, Lawrence Confer of Franklin and Perry Confer of Kent, OH; ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Denny Cemetery.
