James N. “Jim” Moon, of Sandy Lake, passed away on July 25, 2020, one day after his 84th birthday, at his home surrounded by his family. Jim was born in Grove City on July 24, 1936 to the late James E. and Bessie M. (Dickson) Moon. He was a graduate of Hickory High School and went on to attend Marietta College. While at college he was a member of the Crew Team, rowing on the Muskingum River. Jim worked for over 40 years as a Steamfitter for Local Union #449 in Pittsburgh. He also worked as a mechanic and pilot for Con-Air of Franklin. He was a previous member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows #573 – Sandy Lake. He was a lifetime and Patriot member of the NRA since 1975 and was an NRA instructor since 1958. He also competitively shot high power rifle for many years and was a lifetime master. He taught his entire family how to properly use a firearm and to protect themselves. He was of the protestant faith. Jim married his beloved wife, Carol Fairlamb Moon on December 31, 1983, she survives at home. In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by his children: James Moon, and his wife, Nancy, of Cottonwood Falls, KS, Pam Kilgore, and her husband, James, of Polk, June Moon Williams of SC, Fairlight Dennison of Sandy Lake, Carrie Black and husband Pete of Littleton, CO, Amber Moon Stubbings, and her husband, Paul, of Australia, 12 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his son, Matthew E. Moon. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Black Funeral Home of Stoneboro, 99 Franklin Street, where family and friends are welcome from 12 – 2 pm on Wednesday, July 29, a funeral service will follow visitation at 2 pm at the funeral home. All CDC guidelines will be adhered to. Interment will take place in Union Home Cemetery.
