James R. Gable, 82, of Meadville, died at home, Monday, October 12, 1998 following a four year illness.
He was born in Meadville, February 25, 1916 a son of Delbert and Sarah (Brady) Gable. He married Florence Jablonski June 25, 1940 and she preceded him in death November 11, 1993.
He retired as a foreman from Amcast (the former Meadville Malleable Iron Co.) after 34 years of service. He had previously worked for seven years at Talon. Mr. Gable was an avid sportsman, particularly enjoying fishing and hunting.
Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Gable of Meadville; four brothers, Arthur, Charles and Edward Gable, all of Meadville and Harold Gable of Cochranton; five sisters, Margaret Benak, Katherine Clark, and Annabelle Gable, all of Meadville, Ethel Luzier and Dorothy Hargenrater, both of Guys Mills; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Albert Gable and a sister, Esther Gable.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Kiser Hill Cemetery.
