James S. Charlton, 82, of Meadville, a former Talon employee, died Tuesday, April 14, 1992, at Wesbury United Methodist Community following a period of failing health.
He was born in Meadville, December 5, 1909, a son of James S. and Anna Van Riper Charlton, Sr. He married Marion A. Prather. She preceded him in death September 1, 1988.
He retired as chief of material control at Talon after 40 years of service. A 1932 graduate of Allegheny College, he was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Thomas (Jane) Stanton of Meadville and Mrs. Dennis (Margaret) Flannigan of Los Angeles, CA; two sons, D. Scott Charlton and James P. Charlton, both of Denver, CO; a sister, Elizabeth Reed of Youngstown, OH; a brother, A. A. (Gus) Charlton of Pittsburgh; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Skelly.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
