James Samuel Jackson, Jr., 91, of 851 Dogwood Drive, Meadville, died Wednesday, January 11, 2006 at the Meadville Medical Center.
He was born in Phoenix, AZ August 26, 1914 a son of James S. and Alice Krueger Jackson. He married Mona Beery in September 1943 and she preceded him in death in 1984. He subsequently married Kathryn Wygant in Kent, OH November 24, 1990 and she survives.
He retired from Bendix Corp. in South Bend, IN after 32 years of service where he worked as an aeronautical engineer.
He was a 1932 graduate of Waukegan (IL) Twp. High School, a 1938 graduate of Purdue University with a BS in Aeronautical Engineering and a 1965 graduate of Michigan State University with a Masters in Business Administration.
He was a member of Masonic Lodge #768, Stow, OH and the Zem Zem Shrine Temple, Erie. He was a member of the Chippewa Rifle Club of Wadsworth, OH, an avid amateur photographer and enjoyed traveling.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include: two daughters, Susan A. Barkley and her husband John of Novi, MI and Sara E. Jackson of Ravenna, OH; one step-daughter, Carol Hibbard and her husband Arden of Meadville; one sister, Alice Pucin of Chicago, IL; three step-grandchildren, Debra McLean, Eric Hibbard and Kelly Hibbard and several nieces.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Carlton Jackson and an infant twin sister.
Calling hours will be Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville with a Masonic service at 7 p.m. by Lodge #408
The funeral service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. James Hammerlee, retired United Methodist Clergyman, officiating.
Additional services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at the Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, IN. with calling hours from 12-1 p.m.
Burial will be in Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend, IN.
