Jane G. Wyant

March 27, 1916 — February 13, 2009

Jane G. Wyant, 92, loyal, giving, and devoted daughter, sister, and aunt, returned to the Heavenly Father Friday, February 13, 2009.  Her faith was substance throughout her life.

Jane was born March 27, 1916, a daughter of the late Olive Blauser and John M. Wyant at home on Catherine Street, Meadville.  Her respect and love for her parents was willing and generous on the family farm in East Fairfield Township and later on Charlton Street as their health declined.

Jane was a 1933 graduate of Cochranton High School and a graduate of the secretarial course at Meadville Commercial College.  She worked for the former Merchants Bank and Trust Co. in Meadville for nearly 40 years and then for the Dept. of Public Welfare in Meadville.

She was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ most of her life, a Sunday School teacher for more than 30 years, choir member, occasional church organist and member and past president of its Church Women United.

Jane was a former treasurer and volunteer at the Meadville Soup Kitchen.  She enjoyed raising flowers, playing the organ and reading poetry.

In addition the her parents, she was preceded in death by a younger sister, Virginia Headrick, three brothers, Martin, Jerry, and John Wyant, her sister-in-law, Cornelia Walker Wyant and her brother-in-law, Harry Headrick.  Lastly, Jane lost her twin sister, Jean G. Wyant on October 31, 2008.  Those months were their singular time apart.  Inquire of anyone who knew them, Jane and Jean were of separate minds, yet their service, kinship and oneness was the very definition of twin.

Jane is survived by ten nieces and nephews.

The family is most grateful to the Wesbury Community for the professional and loving care of the last 5 years.

Services will be announced with the arrival of spring.

Memorials are suggested to Wesbury United Methodist Community, 31 N. Park Ave., Meadville, PA 16335 or St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 1070 Park Ave., Meadville, PA 16335.
