Jane K. Walton

Mrs. Jane K. Walton, 82, of Meadville, widow of Harold Walton, died at City Hospital Sunday, September 19, 1982, after a brief illness.

She was born at Carlton, February 10, 1900, a daughter of William and Ellen Brink Battles.  Her husband preceded her in death in 1963.

In her early life, she was employed at the YWCA.  She later worked at City Hospital and as a babysitter for several Meadville families.

A member of First Baptist Church, she also was a member of the church's Plus Ultra Sunday School Class and a former member of the church choir.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Albert (Martha Jane) Gruber of Saegertown; a son, Maj. Gail Walton of Tucson, AZ; a stepdaughter, Mrs. William (June) Burgoyne of Cooperstown; a stepson, Wayne Scannell of Houston, TX; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a stepson, Richard Scannell, a sister and two brothers.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Kiser Hill Cemetery.
