Janet A. Owens DeArment, 89, of Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community, died there Friday, May 11, 2007.
She was born April 29, 1918 in Syracuse, NY, a daughter of the late Maurice and Georgia Tryon Owens. She married George S. DeArment February 11, 1939 and he preceded her in death February 13, 1999.
She was a 1937 graduate of Lasell Junior College, Newton, Mass. She was a homemaker and formerly active in the Meadville community where she was a board member of the YWCA and American Red Cross, and member of the Meadville Medical Center Auxiliary and Meadville Garden Club. She was an avid golfer and gardener and enjoyed extensive traveling with her husband.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Anne Kleffel of Meadville; a granddaughter, Gigi Fisher and her husband Fred of Meadville, a grandson, Shawn Naples of Meadville; 3 great-grandchildren, Sarah, Jessica, and Meadow; and 1 nephew and 1 niece. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 2 sons, James H. DeArment and an infant, G. Stuart DeArment.
A private family funeral service will be held at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville with the Rev. Brian Jensen, Pastor of First Presbyterian Church officiating.
Interment will be in Greendale Cemetery.
