Janet Marie Copeland

Janet Marie Copeland, 81, of Saegertown, died Friday, October 23, 2015 at Crawford County Care Center where she resided for the past 10 years.  She was born March 13, 1934 in Wooster, Ohio, a daughter of Frank K. Furry and Pauline (Osborne) Furry, both deceased.  She married Terry O. Copeland October 1, 1955, he survives.

Janet graduated from Randolph High School in 1953.  She was formerly employed as a bus driver for the Saegertown Area Schools for 26 years.  The state presented her with a safety award for 18 years (275,000 miles) of accident free driving.  Janet was also previously employed by G.C. Murphy Department Store and Brownie’s Diner.

She loved and was devoted to her husband Terry and they recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on October 1, 2015.  Her pride and joy were her children and their families.  She always cared for all of the students who were passengers on her school bus and treated them as if they were her own.  She was a loyal and loving person to all she met.  Janet will always be remembered for her beautiful smile and her unforgettable laugh.

Survivors, in addition to her loving husband Terry, include two sons, Vaughn (Tank) Copeland and his wife Kathleen (Kate) of Saegertown, and Bret Copeland and his wife Lori of Saegertown; two daughters, Jan McElhinny and her husband John of Evans City and Debra Walp of Meadville; six grandchildren Katrina Copeland-Yeung (Edward), Sabrina Copeland, Veronica (Chad) Wachowiak, Rhiannon Walp, Brian Walp and Stephen (Amanda) May; great grandchildren Alexander Yeung and Callie Yeung with a third great grandchild due in March.  She is also survived by her brother, Bill Furry and three sisters, Sandy Baker, Kathleen Burkley, and Christine McClelland; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, James Furry, Jerry Furry, and Tim Furry and two sisters, Cleo Furry and Judy Shellenberger.

Calling hours will be Sunday, October 25th from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville.

The funeral service will be Monday, October 26th at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Peter de Vries, Pastor of Old Union Presbyterian Church, Mars, PA, officiating.

Interment will be in Saegertown Cemetery.

A celebration of Janet’s life will continue after the funeral with a luncheon to be held at the VFW James D. Bower’s Post 169, 20628 Gospel Hill Road, Venango, PA.
