Janice M. Bourbeau

June 14, 1950 — January 19, 2015

Janice M. Bourbeau, 64, of Conneaut Lake, died Monday, January 19, 2015 at Meadville Medical Center following a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born June 14, 1950 in Meadville, a daughter of Bernard and Gretchen Kinzleman Woods.   She married James R. Bourbeau January 7, 2000 and he survives.

Janice was a 1968 graduate of the former Linesville-Conneaut-Summit High School and a 1972 graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor’s degree in elementary education.  She was a first grade teacher for 35 years at the Alice Schafer Elementary School, Linesville.

Janice was a member of Our Lady Queen of the Americas Roman Catholic Church, Conneaut Lake and was a member of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees.  She enjoyed shopping, reading, decorating, going to Surfside Beach, SC, and especially being with her grandchildren.

Survivors, in addition to her loving husband Jim, include a daughter, Kate Hans and her husband John of Conneaut Lake; a son, Steven T. Eakin of Pittsburgh; her mother, Gretchen Woods of Meadville; two step-daughters, Johna Oates and her husband Trevor of Conneaut Lake and Jentry Whiteman and her husband Donnie of Saegertown; two granddaughters, Grace and Ella Hans; three step-grandchildren, Winstynn Oates, Pryce Whitemen and Peercyn Whiteman; a brother, Thomas Woods and his wife Anita of Linesville; a sister, Susan Miller and her husband Thomas of Meadville; three nieces and one nephew, Angela Anderson and her husband Greg, Kristen Kassep and her husband Michael, Emily Woods and Evan Woods and her beloved dog, Chloe.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Waid-Coleman Funeral Home, 12422 Conneaut Lake Rd., Conneaut Lake.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of the Americas Church, 155 S. Ninth St., Conneaut Lake with Fr. Jeffrey Lucas as Celebrant.

Interment will be in Our Lady Queen of the Americas Cemetery.
