Jean Douds Johnson, 81, of Meadville, died after an extended illness on October 7, 1996 at her residence.
She was born November 18, 1914 in Plumville, a daughter of the late David W. and Grace (Frum) Douds. She married Joseph N. Johnson, former assistant superintendent of Shaler Schools from 1952 to 1960, November 2, 1935. He survives.
Jean attended Indiana University of PA and raised two children while living in Dayton, New Wilmington, Glenshaw and Meadville. She served in many capacities in the Methodist and Presbyterian Churches as teacher, president of the Women's Assn. and in the Lake Erie Presbytery. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Meadville.
She enjoyed her family taking great pride in her children and grandchildren. Sports, bridge, homamaking and flower gardening also captured her interest.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. Joseph N. Johnson of Meadville; a son, Roger W. Johnson of Pinehurst, NC; a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Joan) Dewey of Meadville; one granddaughter, Melissa Dewey of Meadville; and one grandson, Rich Dewey.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul, Carl and Wayne Douds.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
