Jean L. Fisher, 90, formerly of Maple Street, Meadville and a resident of the Crawford County Care Center, died there Sunday, July 13, 2003.
She was born in Chattanooga, TN, May 1, 1913 a daughter of John P. and Flossie B. Clark Ludebuehl. She married Dr. W. Kenneth Fisher May 28, 1941 and he preceded her in death June 22, 1982.
She was a graduate of Chatham College in Pittsburgh and the Carnegie Institute of Technology, now Carnegie Mellon University. She received her Master’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh. She was a teacher in the Secretarial Department at Carnegie Institute of Technology until her marriage to Dr. Fisher in 1941.
Her greatest joy in life was her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved animals all her life and worked on the committee to raise money and make plans for the Animal Shelter of Crawford County when it was first built.
She was a member of Stone United Methodist Church, the Humane Society of Crawford County, the Meadville Medical Center Auxiliary, the Women’s Literary Club, American Legion Auxiliary and the Iroquois Boating and Fishing Club.
Survivors, include two sons, Charles W. Fisher and his wife Ruth Ann of Meadville and John K. Fisher and his wife Kathleen of Sherwood, OR; four grandchildren, Kenneth C. Fisher, Deborah F. Knecht, Michelle E. Fisher and Eileen M. Fisher and four great grandchildren.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
Burial will be in Greendale Cemetery
The family suggests memorials be made to the World War II Memorial Fund, American Battle Monuments Commission, Att: G.R. 048, P.O. Box 96074, Washington, DC 20090-6074.
