Jeanne L. (Melville) Ervin

Jeanne L. Melville Ervin, 69, of Guys Mills passed away peacefully at home Sunday, June 7, 2015 following a short illness.

Jeanne was born in Meadville October 16, 1945 a daughter of Glen and Edna (McLaughlin) Melville who preceded her in death July 25, 1972 and October 11, 2005 respectively.  Jeanne married James F. Ervin January 18, 1964 and he survives.  Jim & Jeanne lived in the Townville/Guys Mills area their entire life together.

In addition to being a wonderful mother of three children, Jeanne worked at Montgomery Wards in Meadville, and was a township auditor for Richmond Township.  She also worked as a receptionist at the Townville Medical Center and as an Optician Assistant for Dr. Greg Griffith in Meadville then as an aide for special needs students for Penncrest School District.

It was her love of her community and neighbors that Jeanne became an EMT with the Townville Ambulance Service and began a lifelong labor of love volunteering with the Townville Fire Department and its’ Auxiliary.  Countless hours were spent helping with the Pageant and The Ox Roast Booth at Townville Old Home Days.  She could always be depended upon for her hours of volunteering wherever it was needed.

She enjoyed her family above all else, her children and grandchildren filled her with joy.  She also enjoyed camping, with her family and the group of long time camping enthusiast friends.  She loved all things Pittsburgh Steelers, cheering them on always.

In addition to her husband Jim, Jeanne is survived by her three children, son, Patrick Ervin and his wife Cheryl (Oakes) Ervin of Guys Mills, son Christopher Ervin also of Guys Mills and a daughter, Leslie Ulan and her husband Alan of Springboro and two grandchildren, Craig Ervin and Madison Ulan.

Calling hours will be Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville.  The funeral will follow at 8 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Douglas M. Hodge, officiating.

Interment will be in Lyona Cemetery.
