Jeannette W. Beatty

January 3, 1884 — January 28, 1973

Jeannette W. Beatty, 89, of Hartstown, was dead on arrival at City Hospital January 28, 1973.  She had been in poor health for many years.

Born in Rockdale Township on January 3, 1884, she was a daughter of Spencer N. and Ida P. Hoig Wilcox.  She married Ernest L. Hood in 1908.  He died in 1918.  In 1930, she married Charles D. Beatty who died in 1969.  Mrs. Beatty taught in Cambridge Springs and Meadville schools from 1919 to 1922.  She was Crawford County register and recorder from 1922 to 1930 and was county auditor from 1950 to 1955.  She was a 1905 graduate of Edinboro Normal School.  She was a member of Stone United Methodist Church and its Beacon of Light Class.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Virginia Emmel (Rev. Edwin Emmel) of Hartstown; two brothers, Max G. Wilcox of Guys Mills and Glenn N. Wilcox of Guys Albany, NY; one grand-child and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by two sons.

Services were held at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Millers Station Cemetery, Rockdale Township.
