Jerry Walls

Jerry Walls, 78, of Meadville, died Thursday, February 7, 2013 at the Meadville Medical Center.

He was born February 17, 1934 in Meadville a son of Joseph H. and Gwendola Sutton Walls Sr.  He married Joanne Schweitzer June 28, 1951 and she survives.

He first started working at Talon Inc. and then worked at several tool shops in the area before starting Walls Tool which he operated for 37 years.  He was a member of VFW Post #2006, Meadville, VFW Post #8803, Tidioute, the Meadville Club, Meadville Elks Lodge #219 and Eagle Aerie #429.  He loved projects, largely building his family home at Tamarack and two hunting camps near Tidioute, where he enjoyed spending time with family and hunting.  He also enjoyed traveling to Myrtle Beach, SC and in his younger years roller skating and dancing.

In addition to his wife Joanne of 61 years, include: a son, Michael Walls and his wife Laura of Black Mountain, NC; two daughters, Christine DelaPaz and her husband James of Meadville and Lisa Volna and her husband David of Meadville; seven grandchildren, Brett Walls and his wife Jennifer, Jennifer Walls, Alicia Stallard, Taylor Stallard, Kerryann Boozer and her husband Scott, Joseph Volna and his wife Rachel and Brendal Davis; nine great grandchildren, Shealeigh, Austin, Jacob, Garric, JoAnna, Brooks, Ashlee, Makaela  and Lucian and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was the youngest of nine children and his also survived by a sister, Betty Davern of Meadville and a brother, Waldon Walls of Lincoln, NE.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Anna Mae Walls and Margaretta Walls and four brothers, Joseph Walls Jr., Paul Edward Walls, Jack S. Walls Sr. and Robert F. Walls.

Private family services will be held at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville with Fr. Matthew Kujawinski, of St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
