Jesse M. Gage, 86, of Meadville, retired Meadville grocer, died Tuesday, December 25, 1962 at Spencer Hospital shortly after being admitted.
He was born in Randolph Township, September 27, 1876, a son of Dwight M. and Ellen Fields Gage. He was a farmer in the Guys Mills area until moving to Meadville in 1923, where he operated a grocery store on Park Avenue at Randolph Street and later on Mead Ave. until retiring about 10 years ago. He was a member of Grace Methodist Church.
He first was married to the former Lela Bentley, who died in 1936. In 1939, he married Abbie McNamara DeRemer.
Surviving, besides his widow, are a daughter, Mrs. Nick (Louise) Novak, Jr. of Meadville; four sons, Willis B., G. Wilbur and Homer D., all of Meadville and Wayne N. of Toronto, OH; three step-children, LeRoy DeRemer of Arlington, WA, Mrs. Marjorie Marvin of Townville and Miss Lorriane DeRemer of Seattle, WA; nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Union Cemetery, Guys Mills.
