Mrs. Jessie B. McGill, 83, widow of Frank I. McGill, died Sunday evening at Meadville Home for the Aged. She had been a resident of the home since November 1948.
She was born in Harmonsburg, the daughter of the late Ava W. and Sarah McMillin Smith.
Mrs. McGill lived in Oil City and Farrell following her marriage, returning to Meadville in 1919 after the death of her husband. She was the first worthy matron of the Farrell Chapter of Order of the Eastern Star.
She was a member of Stone Methodist Church of Meadville and the church's Beacon of Light Class, a member of the Philo-Mathesian Club and the Rainbow Guild of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity.
Surviving are three sons, William F. of Shelby, OH, Duff S. of Savannah, GA and Bert H. of Toronto, Canada; three sisters, Mrs. Nan Scowden and Mrs. E. E. McGill, both of Erie, Mrs. Andrew Carnegie of Akron, OH; a brother, George W. Smith of Oil City and seven grandchildren.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery, Harmonsburg.
