Joan Boyd Kolcun Ackerman

Joan Boyd Kolcun Ackerman, 64, of 278 Walker Drive, Meadville, died Friday, April 22, 2005, at Wesbury United Methodist Community after a 22-year struggle with Multiple Sclerosis.

She was born in Meadville February 4, 1941, a daughter of James G. and Neva Rudd Boyd.

She was a 1960 graduate of Meadville Area Senior High School.  She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Multiple Sclerosis Support Group and had been a volunteer at the Gill Village Recreation Center.  She enjoyed making craft items, traveling, and country music.

Survivors include one daughter, Denise Marie Peters of Meadville; two sons, Douglas Allen Kolcun of Erie, and Daniel James Ackerman and his wife Connie of Titusville; eight grandchildren, Benjamin, Joseph and Nevada Peters, Toni and Britany Milo, Lindsey and Chase Ackerman, and Crystal Johnston; one brother, James R. Boyd and his wife Kay of Erie; one nephew, Bob Boyd and his wife Lisa and their children, Haley and Riley of Erie and a special friend and Stephens Minister, Sue McCracken.

Calling hours and funeral services will be Monday, April 25, 2005, from noon until time of services at 2:00 p.m. at Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc. 581 Chestnut St., with the Rev. David Fugate, Associate Pastor of First Presbyterian Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
