Joan H. (Henry) Clark

Joan H. Clark, 88, formerly of Conneaut Lake, died Friday, October 14, 2016 at Manchester Commons in Erie.

She was born August 30, 1928 in Sharon, PA a daughter of Victor H. and Mabel J. Murphy Henry.  She married Donald E. Clark June 9, 1951.

She was a 1950 graduate of Westminster College with a Bachelor’s degree in English.  She worked as a teacher at several schools over the years starting in Sharon, then Baldwin Twp, Conneaut Lake, Cochranton and finally retiring from Meadville High School.

She was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Conneaut Lake where she was member, moderator and past president of its Presbyterian Women.  She had been active in the Erie Presbytery.  She was a former member and past president of the Meadville Grottoettes and the former Mead Chapter, Order of Eastern Star.  She was also a member of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees.  She was an avid reader.

Survivors, in addition to her husband Don of 65 years, include: two sons, Mark Henry Clark and his wife Lisa of Coshocton, OH and Neil Ross Clark and his wife Susan of Lancaster, PA; a daughter –in-law, Penny Clark of Conneaut Lake; seven grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Gary Holmes Clark; a daughter-in-law, Christine Field Clark and three sisters, Madge Henry, Katherine Hill and Janet Henry.

Calling hours will be Monday, October 24th from 4 – 7 p.m. at the Waid-Coleman Funeral Home, Inc., 12422 Conneaut Lake Road, Conneaut Lake.

The funeral service will be Tuesday, October 25th at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Shenango Valley Cemetery, Greenville.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Presbyterian Church of Conneaut Lake, P.O. Box 150, Conneaut Lake, PA 16316.
